Is that additional qualification worth the time and money?

Certifications and advanced degrees are not typically game changers for a career when it is not a necessary requirement to have them.

Too often, we turn to acquiring more knowledge and certificates thinking it will help with career progression.

Many times, its just a distraction to confronting the real issues holding back progress.

MBAs/ Advanced degrees/certifications keep you busy and kick the can of the real issue(s) you need to address further out.

You’d still have to come back and address the issues.

So, tackle the issues first, and then get ‘more knowledge’ afterwards if you still want it.

𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁:

What’s the real issue in your career that you’re trying to solve with the certification or the advanced degree you’re considering❓

Are you certain the programme you’re considering will resolve this issue❓

💡Working on your soft skills, personal attributes and other areas that contribute to a successful career usually give a better ROI than investing in more education.
